VESSOMAG (Vascular & Endovascular Surgeons of Maharashtra and Goa) is a registered official association of Vascular and Endovascular Surgeons across Maharashtra and Goa. It functions like a state chapter/association under the guidance of senior vascular surgeons in Maharashtra and the Vascular Society of India (VSI). The society and its members are truly dedicated in their approach to creating awareness and offering treatment options for all vascular diseases. The main objective is the prevention of amputation and the improvement of general vascular health of the population across the globe. We stand with our fellow vascular surgeons across the globe to help patients better understand vascular diseases and to provide optimal guidance for their treatment.
As President of VESSOMAG, I am happy to bring all vascular surgeons of Maharashtra and Goa under one roof for better vascular health of patients. Due to a lack of awareness among the general public and healthcare providers, patients are reaching vascular surgeons at a very late stage of the disease, which definitely impacts outcomes and increases the cost of care. We aim to create awareness about vascular diseases and are working to bridge the gap between patients and vascular surgeons. We hope this initiative will help us achieve a substantial milestone in building a healthier vascular community.
As the Secretary of VESSOMAG, we are happy to have all vascular surgeons on board. Vascular surgery is a dynamic and rapidly expanding specialty that deals with comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic services for patients with diseases and disorders of the arteries, veins, and lymphatics (circulatory system). Vascular surgeons manage diseases of the veins and arteries in every part of the body except the brain and the heart. They can perform open, complex surgeries as well as modern, minimally invasive endovascular procedures. Therefore, they are often known as vascular and endovascular surgeons or vascular specialists.
